Article 1: Racism, Bigotry, Discrimination or Prejudice
Amateur Astronomy is an amazing pastime that is beyond race, religion or creed. Racist behavior and comments that lead to discrimination or prejudice will not be tolerated under any circumstances. It will result in an automatic Ban.
Article 2: Images and web-links leading to pornography or images depicting violence
There is no place for Pornography or any other form of material that may be considered improper. Posting of such material will result in a temporary ban for members offending the first time for a period of a one week or more depending on the severity of the offense.
Article 3: Personal Attacks, Verbal Abuse and Speech that portrays Malice
Language that depicts violence, hate, bashing or prejudice of ANY kind towards a user in a spiteful manner will be dealt with utmost severity. Personal insults and attacks are not acceptable - attack the argument, not the person. Flaming, flame-baiting or other repeated attempts to abuse or derail threads also fall under this category.
Article 4: Trolling/Spamming
Members posting the same material over and over and making ignorant and pointless threads or posts more than once may be banned for a period of time, or forever – whichever may be more appropriate in that situation. Spamming is a serious offense and the offender can have his Internet privileges taken away if reported to the person’s Internet Service Provider (ISP).
Article 5: Off-Topic Threads
Keep appropriate threads in the appropriate forums made for that purpose. Please go through the Contents and Descriptions of the individual forums on this board and make sure you post appropriately. For example the Astrophotography area is not the place to discuss about the latest Music album. The moderators or administrators will move the off-topic threads to the appropriate forum but members repeatedly making the same offense will be warned or will be given an infraction.
Article 6: Administrators and Moderators
The Administrators and Moderators are here to make your experience at the Hamilton RASC Forums an enjoyable one. They are here to make sure the rules are followed. Any comments towards the Forum Moderators or Administrators that suggest hate, contempt or any other form of abuse will not be tolerated.
Article 8: Multiple Accounts
Remember - Only ONE account per person. If Multiple accounts are detected with an IP search, please note that both your accounts may find themselves Banned. Also, if a user has been banned, it is not permissible to make another account. Otherwise your IP Address will be banned and you won't be able to access the site altogether. Also please note that if you do have existing Multiple accounts, please let the Administrators or Moderators know ASAP. We will take the appropriate action and it will prevent your unnecessary banning.
Article 9: Forum Languages
In order for the harmony and usability of the Hamilton RASC Forums to be preserved, it is essential that all users can understand each others posts, and therefore necessary for all posts to be in the same language. As the vast majority of our visitors are English speakers, it makes sense that all posts are made in English. In the rare occasion that you have a good reason for posting in a a language other than English, it is essential that you provide an English translation.
Article 10: Selling on the Boards
Our message board is not an online store nor is it an auction site. However, it is permissible for members to offer personal equipment for sale, either before or at the same time as sites like AstroBuySell.com.
