But visible light only allows us to see a tiny portion of the wonders that the universe has to offer us. Our eyes and conventional equipment only "see" a tiny portion of the EM range. Also the atmosphere and galactic dust obscures much of what is available. Many of us have seen some of the incredible images from satellites such as Chandra (X-Ray) or Fermi (Gamma Rays) which can "see" in other portions of the EM spectrum. Don will talk about another portion of the EM - radio waves. He will cover the basics of Radio Astronomy and the research being done at a number of amazing facilities. He will also show how you can get involved with this challenging and interesting aspect of the hobby, projects you can do at home, and some of the "Citizen Science" that is being done.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>Bio:<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>Don Pullen is a 30+ year amateur radio operator and while a child of the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo years, has only been enjoying amateur astronomy a bit more seriously for the past 10 years - with the last few years exploring astrophotography. <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>He particularly enjoys doing public outreach and presentations.
