However, if it's true that Canon and Nikon are not doing well it must be because of bad management, because consumers are doing everything in their power to help them.<div><br></div><div>It used to be that you'd buy a body and hang onto it forever, adding a lens here and there. I happily used my F2 for almost 25 years. Now, with changes happening so quickly with digital cameras I've bought at least 5 in the last ten years... and a bunch of lenses, to boot.</div><div><br></div><div>I have connections to 4 or 5 camera clubs and at the turn of the millennium they were all struggling to get members. Indeed, a couple nearly collapsed. Since then, with the rapid advancement in digital imaging, membership in all of them has gone up dramatically, at least tenfold in one case, and many clubs are turning members away. The Halton Hills club outgrew two meeting locations in a handful of years. It strikes me as a tricky business. Have you ever
noticed just how many types of cameras companies sell? Used to be
in the old days, there would be just a few cameras in a product line that
would stay pretty much the same from year to year. Now there are
hundreds of varieties of cameras in ever increasing product lines.
Re-tooling must be a fortune just to keep up. I have a Canon 7D
(modified) and already, there is a new version of that camera, but the 7D
is only one of many in the Canon DSLR line alone. Just keeping up
with the whole product line up would be a full time job. Then there
are how many companies making cameras? Boggles the mind.<br>
