Well done.
This opens up Hamilton Centre's outreach announcements, etc. to a whole new generation (plus) of receptive minds.
First Class!

Jeff, I agree. But we have had a Facebook and Twitter account for at least a year now, and we have John Devonshire to thank for managing, monitoring and posting things. He's the man behind the scenes. Abigail Hughes recently started the Instagram account...great stuff.

Loving the Instagram & Twitter feeds! Not sure about the Facebook due to the fact that I deleted my account last summer
-
Ah yes, thank you for that correction, Ed. :)

Thought this might be apropos for the topic. I use an app called Astrospheric to get my weather, seeing, temp dew points and more. It's quite a nice piece of software and compacts a lot of data into a very useable interface. In addition, there is a section called Subspace which provides access to other Astronomy clubs. For Canada, the Kitchener West RASC, Montreal Planetarium and UBC Astronomy Club are on there and, from an outreach and social media presence standpoint, I think it would be great for us to be on there as well. There's a space to post event and activities.
I've added some screenshot to show what it might look like for our club if this is something we want to do. The final image is not yet published as the developers ask that whomever is the representative for the club has authorization to do so. I am happy to take on the role, again, if it's some thing we want to use.

Victor, That's a super idea. Hopefully, one of our directors will read your post and act on it.

Hopefully - but I will certainly bring it up at the meeting on Wednesday. I think it's important to get communications out in a number of ways and this platform could really showcase what we do (when we do it).

Posting it here for anyone that uses Astrospheric - we now have our very own Subspace channel. You can access it by downloading the app and clicking the blue "S" in the upper right-hand corner. Click the, "Join Group" button. From that point there are two ways to join:
Enter this code in the "Subspace Code..." field: AsV1C_YmxhbmsgODQ3YWNlMjY=
Note: Doing this does not require approval and you will automatically be added to the group. Please don't share this code with anyone who is not a member of the Hamilton Centre RASC. Although the code can be changed if we find it's unmanageable or we get lots of riff raff.
OR
Scroll down and choose the Hamilton RASC from the list of groups.
Note: Doing so does require an approval and I will do my best to turn around the requests in 24hrs.
Here is the web version of Astrospheric: https://www.astrospheric.com/ (https://www.astrospheric.com/)

Victor, This is great, thanks. But I have a question. I typed the code in and hit Transmit Code but nothing occurred.
Tried it twice but to no avail. Question: after the small "g" is that a zero or upper case "O"?
Thanks
Ed

I'm pretty sure it's the letter "O", but I do see that you're in the group now. So whatever you did worked. I did not have to approve you.
-
Our humble group is no up to 10 members on Astrospheric. Another 10 and we’ll get access to the “Society” version of the app. Not sure what that means but I’ve always wanted to be part of society.
-
I'll post another message and pin it, but wanted to let everyone know that we have completed all the pre-requisites to have the society version of the app. If you have downloaded Astrospheric and joined the Hamilton RASC group then you will have the additional features. If you don't see them you will need to do a restart on the app. Force close it and reopen it and you should see the added weather reporting lines on the cloud cover panel.

Victor, THANKS SOOOO... MUCH for spearheading this endeavour to get us much better forecasts. The entire Centre owes you a debt of gratitude.
You're a Prince
Sincerely
Ed
