ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
Thursday, October 3, 2019 at 8:00 PM
The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 551
79 Hamilton Street North, 2nd floor
Waterdown, Ontario L0R 2H0
We will have a special progress report by Board member, Eric Golding, on the re-birth of Hamilton Centre's 17-1/2" telescope: Over the past year the Centre's largest reflecting telescope has been undergoing a re-design and re-build -- in the form of a Dobsonian mount, utilizing the now well-established truss-rod system. This latest mount design was computer generated using 3-D autocad, and the wooden components were precision cut on a CNC machine. It is expected that this design will enable improved ease-of-use for the membership, and also possibly allow the telescope to be transportable for special observing projects and outreach events when a very large telescope would be desired. As this project nears completion, the team of volunteers working on it are eager to show the results of their efforts - and it is hoped that all Hamilton Centre members will enjoy using this telescope to its fullest when operational. The presentation will show the work-in-progress as it stands at this point in time.
We will also be presenting our Annual Financial Statement and welcoming a new Board of Directors. This is also your chance to make your voice heard about the things that you would like to see us doing as a club. Finally, we will wrap up with our year-end photo contest!
