Title: AstroCATS 2017 Volunteers
Post by: Roger Hill on February 12, 2017, 04:45:16 PM
Hello Fellow Astronomers!

This is a call out to all those of you who have helped out in the past (and who are looking to participate this year) by volunteering in support of AstroCATS 2017.

AstroCATS is an astronomical trade show put on by the Hamilton/Burlington chapter of the Royal Astronomical Society. This is the fifth year we have put on this show and it continues to evolve and grow. For those of you who have volunteered in the past I don't need to emphasis all the benefits of participating but for those who would consider helping out for the first time, let me review. First you get to help out at an event that is the major fundraiser for our club. With the money we earn through AstroCATS we are able to purchase equipment and supplies to support our community outreach programs and provide loaner equipment and educational programs for club members like you. Second by volunteering, you get free access to a wealth of knowledge from equipment vendors. Third, you get a free (collectors) Tee shirt. And finally I can guarantee that it will be a few of the most fun filled hours you have spent in a long time.

You can access more information on AstroCATS at our web site: http://www.astrocats.ca/ or if you're from the Toronto area at: http://rascto.ca/content/astrocats-2017

The first link has a Volunteers tab which you can access directly at: http://www.astrocats.ca/volunteer/ At that site you can send me a message indicating your contact information and when you will be able to help out. I will be collecting this information and will notify you directly about Tee Shirt size and detailed assignments.

Volunteer for half a day or for the whole day (or weekend!). No special training or knowledge of astronomy is required just a willingness to hustle around for a few hours. You'll be helping out your club and building on our future growth.

AstroCATS Volunteer Coordinator

p.s If you have teens in your household that are looking for community volunteer hours, this would be a great way to acquire them. Just have them sign up and bring in their forms and I would be happy to sign off on their participation.
