Title: Nov. Club meeting
Post by: Ed.Mizzi on October 06, 2017, 06:26:36 PM
Special Guest Speaker: Dr. Chris Talpas
Presentation: "Is there anyone out there? Some thoughts on the likelihood of finding technological alien life".

The Fermi Paradox asks 'Given the vast number of stars, why don't we see signs of intelligent life?' Using our current knowledge of the universe, including the recent findings of the Kepler Space Observatory as well as an examination of our own Earth's history, the factors that contribute to the evolution of a technologically advanced species will be discussed. A brief history of the searches so far, as well as some of the challenges of detection, will also be discussed.

Chris is a long-time member of the Hamilton Centre and a Board member. He has entertained us with fascinating talks in the past and has offered, once again, to help broaden our horizons with this topic, one that most of us have thought about, read about and debated.

Meeting location:
Royal Canadian Legion Branch 551
2nd floor
79 Hamilton Street North,
