Title: Explore Our Universe
Post by: Roger Hill on February 02, 2018, 02:36:34 AM
Visual Observing Night at the Observatory.  Gate opens by 7:30pm, and starts at 8.

Come on out and we'll do the Messier, Explore the Universe and Explore the Moon certificates.

Messier, Explore The Universe, Luna - Heavy M.E.T.U.L.

Bring your own telescope, or use one of the Centre's Dobsonians.

See you there, but dress as if it was 10 degrees Celsius cooler than forecast.

Hello,

I'm really excited about this new program.  I think it would be quite enjoyable to work through a few of these certificates with others of like mind.  I would love to join you all but I commitments that won't allow me to attend the evening from the start.  Any idea how late the observing session may go?

Thank you
Robert

Hello, Robert...

Since this is a Thursday evening, we'll go until about 10pm, or so.

However, currently I'm not scheduled to work the following day, so I could stay later.

Glad you're looking forward to this...so am I!

Roger

Roger,

What time were you thinking for starting?

Sunset is 5:59pm, astronomical twilight ends at 7:34 pm

I expect to be there by 7:30 (or earlier, if I can manage it) to open the gates so people can set up their scopes, run power cables, etc.  It'll give me time to get the roof rolled off, too.

We'll start at 8pm.

Not sure of the "cloudy night" topic, yet, though, but that will start at 8pm, too.
