Star Party at Westfield Pioneer Village

All of the good people headed off to Westfield on Friday night:

1) You can drive in, but your car MUST be back in the parking area by 6:15.  The park opens at 6:45.

2) Since this is a mixture of "Old" and "new" technology, there is no need for period costumes. It would be a nice gesture, though, for whoever is looking after the Marsh 'scope, to look the part, at least somewhat.

3) Choose a target.  For instance, I will be offering "movies of the moon with your cell phone".  Others should choose the Moon or Jupiter.  If we had a "Big Dob", then going for M51 might be worthwhile, but otherwise stay away from "faint fuzzies".

4) Don't use your best eyepieces...there will be kids, and they will want to hold on to the eyepiece.  If you have a small kitchen style stepping stool, it would be a good idea to bring it.

Enjoy yourself...people who show up to this are there because they're interested in astronomy.

Just had a chat with Lisa Hunter, at Westfield.
She says it is best to arrive before 6 p.m. and that vehicles need to be off the Victorian star party site and into designated parking by 6:30 p.m.
If anyone needs hydro, or any special needs, she is the one to contact. (519-621-8851).
Glad there will be several people.  I will bring a scope and a laptop, so I can live-stream Jupiter off a CCD camera for folks to see on the larger screen, if that works.
Thanks muchly

Roger et al,

We were using two of the club's 8" Dobs for the Transit yesterday. The third Dob is still in the Observatory.

I am still not sure if I can make it to Westfield on Friday. However, if someone wants a Dob they could get the one at the Observatory or come to my place and pick up one or two. Or I can take these and leave them at the Observatory.
I live less than 10 minutes from the Observatory, at 55 Laurendale Avenue in Waterdown. 905 512-6838
