A good place to start is the university web site. There should be a link to the schools of astronomy and astrophysics which will give you the basic information to start your evaluation. There will also be contact numbers to the department dean's office which can provide you with answers to more detailed questions. I did not study astronomy therefore I can't provide a comprehensive list of things to look for but several that come to mind would be: 1. What is the size of the school? How many tenured professors? Number of support staff? 2. What are the entrance requirements? What is the enrolment level for first year? 3. Is the department involved in extensive research activities? 4. Does the department have access to the large observatories in Chile and Hawaii? 5. Are there scholarships available for students in this field of study? Earlier this year we had a grade 12 student enrolled in our NOVA (introductory astronomy ) program and she was accepted into the U of T into the astrophysics program last fall. I still have her email and can try to contact her to see if she would be willing to pass on her thoughts. Inside are either two four amp 24 volt transformers and a dual buss or one eight amp 24 volt transformer with a single buss. I have already found homes for all of the cameras, but anyone interested in a power supply box has until Monday morning to contact me and ask me to set one aside for them. A good place to start is the university web site. There should be a link to the schools of astronomy and astrophysics which will give you the basic information to start your evaluation. There will also be contact numbers to the department dean's office which can provide you with answers to more detailed questions. I did not study astronomy therefore I can't provide a comprehensive list of things to look for but several that come to mind would be: 1. What is the size of the school? How many tenured professors? Number of support staff? 2. What are the entrance requirements? What is the enrolment level for first year? 3. Is the department involved in extensive research activities? 4. Does the department have access to the large observatories in Chile and Hawaii? 5. Are there scholarships available for students in this field of study? Earlier this year we had a grade 12 student enrolled in our NOVA (introductory astronomy ) program and she was accepted into the U of T into the astrophysics program last fall. A good place to start is the university web site. There should be a link to the schools of astronomy and astrophysics which will give you the basic information to start your evaluation. There will also be contact numbers to the department dean's office which can provide you with answers to more detailed questions. I did not study astronomy therefore I can't provide a comprehensive list of things to look for but several that come to mind would be: 1. What is the size of the school? How many tenured professors? Number of support staff? 2. What are the entrance requirements? What is the enrolment level for first year? 3. Is the department involved in extensive research activities? 4. Does the department have access to the large observatories in Chile and Hawaii? 5. Are there scholarships available for students in this field of study? Earlier this year we had a grade 12 student enrolled in our NOVA (introductory astronomy ) program and she was accepted into the U of T into the astrophysics program last fall. Nothing else, actually. Once you've informed me that you will take the course, all you have to do is just show up at our Observatory on Monday, February 3rd at 7:30pm EST. The class size is limited. We had 16 people registered for the 2013 session, and it was a touch cramped. We're looking at other solutions, but we may have to cut down on the numbers for the 2014 session. Inside are either two four amp 24 volt transformers and a dual buss or one eight amp 24 volt transformer with a single buss. I have already found homes for all of the cameras, but anyone interested in a power supply box has until Monday morning to contact me and ask me to set one aside for them.
