RASC Hamilton Partial solar eclipse tomorrow

Kincardine looks reasonable.  

Anyone wanting to see this should be aware that the Sun will only be 7 degrees above the horizon when the eclipse starts.  A good western horizon is vital.

There are several ways to maximise your eclipse experience:

Go West: This increases the time before Sunset.
Go North This gets you closer to the maximum point of eclipse (far northern Canada).
Go Up:   This drops your hizon below the horizontal, delaying sunset.  This won't mean much for small airplanes, but could get you an amazing picture if you are over Lake Ontario a few kilometres offshore from Scarborough and heading toward Toronto to silhouette the Toronto skyline as the Sun sets.

A couple of ideas:

Recommended spot - the marina parking lot at the Point Clark Lighthouse, about 9 km south of Kincardine. Great public view of lake horizon, although close to lake level. For an elevated view there is a west-facing parking lot behind the Bean Bistro on Kincardine, on the west side of the main street across from the library. I can't guarantee how uncluttered that view will be in the direction of the sun, though.
