RASC Hamilton Possible supernova in M61

M61 is a spiral galaxy in Virgo, and rises around 3:15 am at the moment.

The supernova is about magnitude 13 at the moment, while the host galaxy
is a bright as a 10th magnitude star, but it's light is spread over a
fairly  large area. You're probably going to need an 8" scope to be able
to see it.  Dark skies help!

If we have a clear morning, I may try to get an image of it.

M61 is rising before dawn for us right now (just before 5 AM) so likely
hard to spot, but you never know. Mercury is in that neighbourhood right
now...
