Hello all,
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to look through a turn of the century telescope….and compare it with a modern one?....Well here is your chance!
As many of you know we have partnered with Westfield to loan them our antique scopes….and we have a wonderful opportunity this Friday September 26, 2014 to view through some of them….
Westfield is hosting a public star party at their facility…and they need lots of people and telescopes to make it a huge success….and we have the opportunity of being a part of this wonderful outreach….and I am asking for volunteers to help out this Friday evening…..bring your scope…bring your family to this wonderful evening of observing!...We need a lot of members to help support this outreach…and Mark Pickett will be dressed in period attire…and that alone is worth the drive to Westfield!!!... Westfield has presenter that is doing the lectures of Sir Robert Ball (English astronomer) in about 1900 too!.. anyone can take a telescope to Westfield and the club will show you how to use it.
 
Westfield has a great star party theme, and we expect about 200 people to show up. If it is successful, the star party will be an annual event - and we will have an observatory next year to do it in.
Festivities and setup start around 6:00pm..( note …cars are not allowed on the observing site after 7:00 pm so if you have gear to bring and set up…best to be there before 7:00!...after all they didn’t have cars back then!))

This will be a great opportunity to share our wonderful hobby with a lot of people and families. So ….come out and be a part of this first time event….
