RASC Hamilton David Dunlap Observatory donated to RASC-TO

It's not clear from the article who now owns the land under the observatory. The article reported 100 acres are being donated to the city - if they are smart the city will immediately establish their part as a park. Depending on the situation, if the club was given title to the land too they may be able to become property tax exempt for the site. The city or TRCA could arrange a easement on the property protecting it no matter who owns it. These legally binding agreements usually are linked to a tax benefit to the owner; they permit sale but depending on the details can prohibit development forever.
