Looks like my plan to see it tonight is a washout.  Hopefully it will clear up some...

  I was at the observatory last night and took the following pictures with an ancient 135mm Hanimex lens at f/2.8 .  I used an Astronomik UHC clip in filter to try to reduce the effects of light pollution.

  Lovejoy is a stack of 34 30-second exposures.  I had to stop twice to replace the batteries in my camera.  I used ISO 400 with my modified Canon T1i.  The camera was bolted on to the 16" and taken along for the ride.  The comet visibly moved during the time it took to take these.  There is a hint of tail, at least in the originals.

  The Orion picture is a stack of 20 30-second exposures with the same camera and the same ISO setting.  In-Camera dark frame subtraction was turned on.
