Subject: Breathing New Life into History - The Marsh Scopes Seek a Worthy Home

[Royal Astronomical Society of Canada - Hamilton Chapter]

Dear RASC Hamilton Centre Members,

You may remember back in late 2025 we were donated two turn-of-the-century
jewellers cabinets with the intent to have them house our historic Marsh
scopes.

We thought Westfield or one of the Hamilton Museums or Library would be
eager to put them on display, however we've had a luke-warm response. The
search for an appropriate location is still ongoing for the larger cabinet,
however we've decided to sell the smaller cabinet and use the funds for
other Centre projects.

The smaller cabinet is in rough shape and we could most certainly sell it
for more if it were in better condition. It is with this in mind that
I am reaching
out to our talented membership to see if there is a craftsman, a hobbyist,
or a history enthusiast among us who would be interested in taking on this
restoration project. If you have a passion for woodworking or bringing
antique pieces back to life, we would love for you to lead this
transformation.

If you feel called to help us preserve this piece of heritage, please reach
out to me directly in the next few days. Let’s ensure the Marsh scopes have
a home as timeless as the stars they once observed.
