Hello All!!
We are having a work party at the observatory this Saturday October 12, 2019 from 9:00 am - 2:00pm.
I know this is the long weekend for Thanksgiving....but here are the benefits
1. The exercise will burn off calories allowing for a bigger Thanksgiving Dinner! ( YAY!)
2. FUN FUN FUN  ( for those of us who are older...FREE Robaxacet!)
3. The observatory will look great!!!!
4. If the weather is good, we will be having an observing night that evening - full moon views and a chance to use the BIG scopes!
5. If you are a member and don't have a key to the observatory, if you help out...you get one!!!!

There are assorted things to be done, grass cutting, general outside cleanup, inside clearing of cobwebs etc.,

If you have any tools  ie. rakes chainsaw, hedge trimmers, bring them along.
Lunch will be provided....( Pizza!!!)
Come along and join the merry mirth!

I'll be there from 9-12, more than happy to push a mower around. Don't count me in for any pizza though. I'm on a strict liquid diet.

Thanks Gavin
Weather depending...thank you...I will advise by tomorrow evening if we are a go or no go on the Forum

I may be able to make it out for the morning.  I'll need to leave by about 1, however.

Gavin.Hill

I'll be there rain or shine to mow the lawn (that mower is a work horse & will go through anything) as long as someone is there with gas & a key

Apologies all.  In my enthusiasm to mow lawns and clean yards, I didn't realize it was Thanksgiving weekend.  We are hosting a few people today, so I ill not be able to make it.

Hello All,
Many thanks to Gavin Hill and Greg Stopelli who helped with the Observatory clean-up. The 3 of us accomplished a lot...I reorganized the meeting room and de=cluttered a lot, Gavin attacked the grounds and mowed the entire lawn and cut back the bushes alongside the south end of the property as well as the growth under the roll off roof sliders.  Greg also de-cluttered the computer areas and made sure all was in working order....Greg & I Also searched the observatory over and " re-instituted the 5" refractor by putting it on the HEQ5 mount as well as the 8"Celestron cassegrain.  And.....cleaned the outside of the 16" and 14" and removed the cobwebs an dirt and grime.....we have an observatory now that is cleaned up, organized and a place we will be proud to bring members and visitors to

Wonderful job gentlemen. Huge kudos to all of you. Sorry I could not help but I was working at an advanced election poll station from 8 AM to 9:30 PM that day. Hopefully I can help next time.
