RASC Hamilton Key fee...

I'd like to correct a statement that was made at the last General meeting.

Someone on the Board said that the key fee was collected to pay for the cost of re-keying the locks.

In fact, this has not been the case for quite a few years as Mark Kaye has donated a considerable amount of time and effort, often on very short notice, to ensure that the locks are in good working order.  He has also responded very quickly to requests to re-key the locks when the Board has requested it.

As a volunteer-run organization, we rely on the goodwill of so many of our members who donate time, effort and materials without a thought for any recompense, and I think that these efforts should be recognized when possible.

The key fee is used to help offset the cost of the observatory and helps to pay for insurance, electricity, snow removal, and other maintenance activities and costs.
