RASC Hamilton - Members Only Outreach volunteers needed

We are looking for volunteers that would like to help with outreach throughout the month of March - at Westfield Heritage Village. 

The dates are: All Sundays's in March and the first Sunday of April, the Wednesday & Thursday of March Break, and Good Friday, specifically: 

Sundays - March 5, 12, 19, 26 and April 2
March Break - March 15 and 16
Good Friday - April 7
We need to let them know the days we can support very soon as they have to print material, ideally by the latest Wednesday Feb 22. We’re aiming to have most of the days filled with at least 2 volunteers to cover breaks and for safety. If we don’t cover Good Friday that’s acceptable, but we should be able to cover all or most of the remaining days. 

What are you signing up for? 

To fire up the relationship with Westfield again, we're looking to partake in a multi-day event during the month of March - it is Westfiled's Maple Syrup event. They'll have a number of buildings open and several stations where the public can learn about various elements of pioneer life. We would be one of those stations. The exact details are still being worked out, but the events are during the daytime and we would likely have one of the historic scopes set up and perhaps a modern scope so people can look at the sun. This would mesh nicely with our efforts to prepare for solar eclipse outreach coming in 2024. We would also be permitted to have a table with printed material and perhaps our new banner.

Westfield Heritage Village Conservation Area is both a living history museum and a conservation area. It boasts a stunning collection of over 35 historical buildings that have been restored to capture early Canadian culture. Westfield also houses 3 historic scopes belonging to our Centre (see this post for pictures of the scopes: http://hamiltonrasc.ca/forum/index.php?topic=1549.0).

Please go in and sign up for as many dates as you are able to support. This is a great opportunity to support 2 main objectives for our Centre. to grow our membership and to create awareness about solar viewing safety and the solar eclipse in 2024.
